The Padres took another step towards securing a playoff berth with a 3-1 win over the Astros on Monday night. Yu Darvish dazzled, needing just 79 pitches to earn a quality start with 6 shutout innings. The Padres led wire to wire, with Manny Machado's RBI-double in the 1st inning putting the team up early. Jackson Merrill blasted a solo homer to straight-away center field in the 4th inning and Jurickson Profar added a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the 8th after the Astros scored a run in the top of the 8th. Just 24 hours after Robert Suarez blew a save in San Francisco, Mike Shildt went right back to him in a save situation, and Suarez needed just 8 pitches for a 1-2-3 inning to earn his 33rd save of the season.
