The Padres have pulled off a blockbuster trade for Mariners catcher Austin Nola, who is under contract through the end of the 2024 season. Nola is having a career year, slashing .306/.373/.531 with 5 home runs and 19 RBIs in 29 games. The Padres parted ways with one of their top prospects Taylor Trammell, who came over in the Franmil Reyes trade. This is the second catcher the Padres reportedly traded for, in addition to Angels catcher Jason Castro. Below are the details of the trade.
