As a result of a controversial chant from some fans in attendance at SDFC's first home match, the club announced on Thursday a new policy to prevent the chant from happening at future matches. The policy includes communication to fans about the club's commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment, in-stadium signage discouraging the chant, added security, pre-match messaging and the adoption of FIFA's three-step protocol, which includes stopping, suspending and even abandoning the match if the discriminatory behavior persists.
