Easter got me thinking about candy, and what I would want the Easter Bunny to put in my basket! Today's kids love Sourpatch Kids, Airheads, and something called a Squashmallow? Here are 5 candies I LOVED when I was younger that I wish I could get my hands on today! (Note: some of these are still available today thru Amazon or special "nostalgia candy companies", but they're not right out there on any store shelf)
1. Tootsie Pop Drops
Remember when they took the deliciousness of a Tootsie Pop and made it into individual candies? Heaven! I think they got rid of these because they were putting that wise old owl out of a job
2. Lifesaver Swirl Lollipops
We had an open campus at lunch-time in high school, and since our school was located just off of downtown, we'd walk to Arnold's Red & White grocery store and get food from the deli. My lunch (and walk back to school) wasn't complete without an Orange & Creme Lifesaver Swirl Lollipop!
3. Lifesavers Holes
And on the Lifesaver trip, I can't forget Lifesaver Holes. Why waste that little dot of hard candy that is removed to make Lifesavers when you can package them all together and make more money?
4. Space Dust
What kid doesn't want candy that explodes in their mouth? Space Dust and Pop Rocks were similar, but for some reason I was partial to Space Dust. Unfortunately, parents thought the name sounded too much like a particular drug that was also popular, so even the name to "Cosmic Candy" couldn't save this delightful exploding treat
5. Hubba Bubba Bubblegum
Kids & gum go together like peas & carrots, but they can also both end up a sticky mess. Enter Hubba Bubba Bubblegum! Its big selling point was that it wasn't supposed to stick when you blew a big bubble and it popped all over your face. The same could not be said when you got it in your sister's hair, however! I liked it because it seemed less sugary than some of the others.
Those are my five favorite candies that you just can't find anymore! Are these on your list? Do you have others to add? Hit me up on Facebook or Instagram!
