The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge mailed thank-you notes to supporters who offered their condolences to the family following Prince Philip’s death in April. In the correspondence, both Kate and William shared that dealing with his death was very difficult.

“They will all miss their much-loved grandfather and great-grandfather, but your message has provided great comfort at this difficult time,” read the message, revealed by the blog Gert’s Royal Replies, said.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for your kind words following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh,” the memorandum read. “Their Royal Highnesses have been incredibly moved by the many thoughtful messages they have received in recent weeks.”
The heartwarming words came with a photo of the late husband of Queen Elizabeth II. While being sent on the official Kensington palace stationary, “the front of the card features the couple’s individual monograms, W & C under the coronets of the Children of the Heir Apparent. The back of the card has a photo credit, (c) Anthony Devlin, for the inside photo," noted the blog.
In April, Prince Philip died at the age of 99.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,” the statement said.
Prior to his death, Philip spent a month in hospital before being released on March 16 to return to Windsor Castle.
Philip, also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, married Elizabeth in 1947. He retired from public engagements in 2017 after carrying out more than 20,000 of them. Philip was a member of the Greek royal family and was born on the Greek island of Corfu in 1921. He was an avid sportsman who loved country pursuits. He had four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
