Following their dissolution in 1991, Talking Heads fans have only been gifted a small number of reunions, mainly in the form of gatherings to discuss their music and impact rather than performing live.

After calling it quits in the early '90s, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne had put a stop to the other band members' attempts to keep the music alive with side projects, only reuniting with Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison for a few one-off appearances to celebrate the anniversary of their 1984 concert documentary Stop Making Sense, and of course for their 2002 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

That fact apparently didn't stop concert promoters from approaching the band with tantalizing offers, as Billboard reports Live Nation "was willing to pay the band $80 million to headline six to eight festival gigs and headlining slots." That offer reportedly came after Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice, the organizer of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, shared his wish to get the rock legends to reunite for "as much as $10 million" for the two-weekend festival. In the end, Tollett “sensed there were no shows happening," so an offer was never made. Obviously, the Live Nation deal fell flat as well.
