“The Little Mermaid” stars budding young actress Halle Bailey, 21, as Ariel, the underwater sea princess.

In June, fans got a sneak peak of her mermaid’s tail while she filmed scenes in Italy alongside co-star Jonah Hauer-King, who plays Prince Eric.

According to photos obtained by Daily Mail, the pair appeared to be filming the famous scene in which Ariel rescues Prince Eric after a shipwreck as the two were seen lying on the sandy shore while Ariel tries to wake him up.

Bailey, who appeared in the ABC series "Grown-ish," will join other noteable stars on the adaptation, including Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and "Hamilton" star Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian.

After months of filming and a slight delay due to the pandemic, production on the film wrapped in July and Bailey recapped her time as Ariel in a heartfelt post. "After auditioning for this film when I was 18 just about to turn 19, to now finishing filming through a pandemic when I turned 21.. we have finally made it... I feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory."

She continued, "It has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I’ve ever known, to feeling self doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I’ve reached the end. This experience has made me so much stronger than i ever thought I could be."

The live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid" comes more than 30 years after the original animated classic was released in 1989.
