It seems the dynamic between power in the workplace between employees and employers is slowly, but surely changing.
A new survey found that nearly 50% of Gen Z and Millennials would rather be unemployed than work in a job that doesn't make them happy.
Per Business Insider, younger generations are prioritizing happiness over their careers, and approximately 56% of Generation Z and 55% of millennials respectively said they would quit their jobs if it bothered them in their personal lives.
Further, almost half said they would not accept a job at a company that is not in line with their views on social and environmental issues.
These findings "explain why employers are struggling to find younger talent who would fill open roles, giving more power to job seekers," according to Randstad, who conducted the survey.
Global executive director Sander van 't Noordende said in a statement, "Our findings should serve as a wake-up call for employers. A clear change of power is underway as people question priorities."
