Graduating high school and moving out of your parents' house to attend college is often the first real test in being a responsible adult for many young people.
And it seems that the majority are not prepared to handle it.
A new survey by the American Cleaning Institute found that while 92% of college-age kids agreed that a clean room helps them feel their best, 72% say they came to college UNPREPARED to actually clean up for themselves.
So why are college kids content to live in a pigsty?
For 53% of them, it's a problem of motivation. They admit they don't feel "motivated" to clean. 50% claim they don't have enough time.
On top of that, there's often at least two students in a space, and 71% say they've argued with a roommate over how to clean.
