Our Dr. Miles Intervention this morning involves family, jewelry, and heirlooms passed down between family members across generations.
A woman was recently bequeathed a ring belonging to her grandmother passed down from generation to generation. The thing is, she doesn't necessarily want it.
So she's faced with a conundrum: There's no way she'll ever wear the ring, and since it will just be collecting dust, why not sell it?
It's her ring now after all, shouldn't she be able to do with it what she will?
But other members of her family would LOVE the ring! It is a family heirloom after all, and does it belong to the family at the end of the day?
