We're living in a technology-filled world where it's not enough to worry about how much time kids are spending on social media, we also have to look at their parents.

Even more so, a new study from Study Finds says that how a parent uses social media reveals a lot about what kind of parent they actually are.

A team from the University of Central Florida found that parents who tend to post tons of pictures of their children on social media often have a "more friend-like parenting style."

Usually, these parents have more permissive and confident parenting styles, and will often allow their kids to interact with social media themselves at younger ages.

What can be worrisome though, is often more social media-savvy parents won't seek out their kids' permission before posting pictures of the online.

Mary Jean Amon, an assistant professor in the School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training at UCF and a co-researcher on the study, said, "There is no doubt that many parents are very careful regarding what they share online about their children, and there are significant benefits to sharing photos with grandparents and groups who can offer support and help keep families connected. But we need to be aware of some of the privacy issues when sharing children's information online and conduct further research to figure out long-term impacts. This is all still so new. We're still learning."
