Over the weekend an auction was held with the marquee item being Aaron Judge's historic 62nd home run, which he hit at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
It bested the record held by fellow Yankee Roger Maris for most home runs hit by a player in the American League.
Dallas resident Cory Youmans actually turned down an offer of $3 million for the ball, and decided to take it auction.
Well, the ball did sell over the weekend, for a grand total of…$1.5 million.
Some point to the fact that players in the National League (Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa) have previously surpassed the 61 home run total, but because of their links to steroids many consider Judge the true home run king.
Either way, $1.5 million isn't a bad weekend for Youmans, though $3 million would have definitely felt a lot sweeter.
By the way, Judge still made out ok even though he doesn't have the ball himself. Before this season began, he rejected a contract extension from the Yankees for seven-years, $213.5 million.
Judge did re-up with the Yankees, though, but for nine years and $360 million.
It's the richest contract in Major League history for a non-pitcher.
