Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken the reigns as guest host of Jeopardy!, and he's already feeling the heat. Not from critics, but from the contestants themselves!
This past January, Rodgers' Packers faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship with the chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, and down by eight points, the Packers decided to kick a field goal rather than attempt to go for the touchdown.
Of course, the Packers lost, and the Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, went on to win the Super Bowl.
Since then, the call has been much maligned, and even made its way to Jeopardy!
Rodgers later reflected on the joke. On an Instagram Live with fiancée actress Shailene Woodley, where he said, "A little insight, as the host at my podium I get to see what they're writing. So, I saw him beginning to write something about kicking the field goal and then I had to get to my spot and I didn't see the rest of his writing, [but] I knew there was going to be some sort of humor there."
According to the Huffington Post, Rodgers has not plans to stop playing football any time soon, but won't rule out hosting more episodes of Jeopardy! in the future.
He said, "I just won MVP. I still have a lot left in the tank. I'm still gonna play and I'd love to host 'Jeopardy!' at the same time. Jeopardy! films five shows a day, 46 days a year. That's 230 episodes. And I work for six months out of the year, so the other six months I would have time to, probably, film 46 days I think."
