Artificial Intelligence seems to be infiltrating all aspects of our lives, and now it seems a trip to the grocery store will not be complete without a little assistance from AI.
Shoppers in New York have begun noticing AI shopping carts at stores, that actually provide for a more simplified shopping experience.
According to the NY Post, these shopping carts come equipped with a touchscreen so not only can you keep track of your shopping list, it will allow you to scan items as you go and pay for your haul directly on your cart, meaning you won't have to stand in line to check out before you leave.
They've only really popped up in the New York area, at retailers like Shoprite and Schnucks. Instacart purchased the company that manufactures these carts in 2021 for a whopping $350 million, so we'll see how long it takes before they start popping up in stores nationwide.
Now if only someone can figure out how to get a shopping cart to automatically return to the corral so they're not just sitting in the middle of the parking lot waiting to ding someone who parks too close!
