A recent survey found that 25% of Americans admit to keeping a secret from a "live-in partner."
Well, this retired Army lieutenant colonel has no problem bearing all to his romantic interests.
Normally that can be a good thing in a relationship, but not when "bearing all" means giving up top-secret information.
That's exactly what David Franklin Slater did. Slater was employed at the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, but he was let go from his job and arrested after he apparently divulged secret information about Russia's war with Ukraine while communicating with a potential love interest on a dating app!
According to Air Force Times, Slater's unidentified "love interest" allegedly asked him to provide sensitive information regularly, referring to him as "my secret agent." Evidently, he gave up information regarding "military targets" and "Russian military capabilities."
According to a release from the Justice Department, Slater was charged with two counts of unauthorized disclosure of national defense information and one count of conspiracy to disclose national defense information.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000 per count.
