Every month, the East Foot Patrol Unit of the Arlington Police Department likes to take some time to complete one service project for someone in their community.
The officers tell NBC DFW they call it their "Mission of the Month," where they will often fix fences, help seniors with yardwork, clean up local parks; pretty much whatever they can find to do.
This month, the officers held the first (of what they hope is the first of many) "We Care A Brunch." They extended an invitation to Arlington homeless individuals to come enjoy a free meal at Meadowbrook Park, where they would also provide them clothes, shoes, and sleeping bags.
The officers also offered free haircuts, and put many individuals in contact with housing assistance resources.
The East Foot Patrol Unit of the Arlington Police Department is hoping to hold the "We Care a Brunch" event once a quarter.
