Earlier this afternoon, State Fair officials took down Big Tex, officially signaling the end of State Fair season.
He will be put in storage and brought out for next year's Fair festivities, scheduled to occur from September 29 through October 22.
This year, 2.5 million people attended the fair over its 24-day run.
More than 90,000 pounds of pure cane sugar was used to make State Fair Cotton Candy, more than 12.7 million kernels of popcorn were popped at the Pioneer Kettle Korn stand, and about 583,00 Fletcher's corn dogs were consumed.
