Fans gathered to enjoy a performance of the Billy Joel cover band Turnstiles were treated to, probably, their best surprise of 2026.
The man himself walked onto the stage at the amphitheater in Wellington, Florida for a surprise performance, and his first time appearing on stage since being diagnosed with the brain disorder Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) in May.
Video from the event shows Joel walking the stage with the assistance of a cane, before sitting at the piano and telling the crowd, “I wasn’t planning on working tonight” before launching into his 1989 hit, “We Didn’t Start The Fire.”
Now, does this mean a return to touring is imminent? We would guess not, but at least we get to see the Piano Man on stage again, even for just a brief moment.
