Brendan Fraser is already receiving Oscar buzz for his performance in the upcoming film The Whale, but before the Oscars, comes the Golden Globes.
However, even if Fraser is nominated for his performance, and in all likelihood he will be, he has no intention of attending the ceremony.
The Golden Globes is conducted annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Fraser recently told EW on if he would attend the ceremony if nominated, "I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I have respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. No, I will not participate."
In 2018, Fraser shared a disturbing allegation that in 2003, Philip Berk, a former president and member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, groped and assaulted him.
Berk has denied the claims, though Fraser has no intention of attending the ceremony "due to a lack of reconciliation or apology regarding his assault accusations."
Fraser further explained his reasoning, adding, ""t's because of the history that I have with them, and my mother didn't raise a hypocrite. You can call me a lot of things, but not that."
