Shirell "Honey" Lackey was performing double duty at a Greensboro, North Carolina Waffle House last week. Not only was she working a double shift from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., she was caring for her daughter at the restaurant all while tending to customers!
Well one particular customer noticed just how hard Lackey was working, and left a generous tip to show his appreciation.
Reportedly, a popular "country music star," whom Lackey wants to keep anonymous, left a tip of $1,000 after seeing a member of his entourage left a tip of $50 and told everyone of Lackey's amazing work ethic.
Lackey said after she received his tip, the musician also gave her some words of encouragement. She told MyFox8, "He was like, 'I have to respect a mother that would do whatever it takes to support their child in a society where people don't even want to work anymore.'"
The musician also gave Lackey two concert tickets, and sent baby clothes and toys to her home for her daughter Bella. "It feels good to be recognized. I mean, I don't do it to be recognized, I do it because Bella is everything — but it's nice to be recognized for doing the things we do as mothers," Lackey said.
