Florence "SeeSee" Rigney's career beginnings as a nurse took place around the time penicillin was just being introduced to the medical field.
Now 70 years later, and at the age of 96, Rigney has finally retired.
Rigney's previously tried to retire 30 years ago when she was 65, but told King 5 News that she just couldn't sit still.
She said, "I don't like to sit around – I've always got to have something to do. That's my nature. I don't know exactly what made me want to become a nurse, but it was something that I always wanted to do. I love to interact with patients and give them the help that I can."
In honor of Rigney, MultiCare Health System will be establishing a scholarship in her name called the SeeSee Rigney Nursing Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will go to MultiCare nurses and employees interested in pursuing nursing for continued learning and development.
