Couples say the key to a happy relationship is the “2-2-2 rule”

Couples are always trying to find the keys to a successful relationship.  You ask the average older person, they might have some pretty extreme ideas about what makes a relationship “happy.”

These days, other couples are attributing their happy relationships to the fact that they abide by the “2-2-2 rule.”

So what is the “2-2-2- rule?”  Make sure to have a date night every two weeks.  Make sure to have a weekend away every two months.  And finally, make sure to get away from town for a week every two years.

Psychoanalyst and marriage counselor Kimberly Hershenson told Fox News, “I think it's excellent.  In order to have a really great marriage you have to spend time together.”

Hershenson says she's had clients on the brink of divorce come to a much better place by using the 2-2-2 rule.

"It gives couples the time to communicate and find out what's going on in each other's lives," she said
