Donato Frattaroli and Magda Mazri were all set for the wedding of their dreams.  The Boston couple planned on tying the knot in Italy August 31. It really does sound like a dream. Or it did, rather.

Unfortunately, they've run into one slight problem: their dog ate Frattaroli's passport.

Obviously, you cannot fly internationally without a passport, and considering their flight for Europe is schedule to leave in just over a week, Frattaroli and Mazri are in a bit of a pickle.

The couple went out to dinner after visiting Boston City Hall to get their marriage license and letter of intent.  When they returned home, they found their 1.5-year-old golden retriever "Chickie" had had a little dinner of his own.

Chckie had chowed down on the first four pages of Frattaroli's passport, several back pages, and a stamp from Mexico where the couple got engaged a few years ago.  At first, the damage didn't look too bad, but then the couple opened the book.

Mazri told NBC Boston, ""t was like every important page. Like all of his personal information -- completely torn up, his picture page was torn up, the barcode on the back of the passport was torn up."

The couple ended up reaching out to several area lawmakers looking for any kind of help.

Frattaroli said he, "sent out an email to Congressman Lynch's office, then got in touch with Sen. Markey, their staffs have both been incredible, super communicative, but ultimately it really comes down to the State Department and the passport office.

Mazri is hopeful the couple will still be able to pull off their Italy wedding.  In face, all her eggs appear to be in that basket.

"I'm not allowing myself to even think Plan B. There's no other option for me," she said. "We are going to Italy on Friday one way or the other."
