
A Dallas researcher named Edward Sebesta is working on a new project to have Akard Street in downtown Dallas renamed. Sebesta has played a role in a number of name changes that were previously linked to the Confederacy and slavery.
Speaking to Axios Dallas, Sebesta said it would be the first thoroughfare in Dallas to recognize a gay, Black person. He says Akard's namesake was anti-emancipation, and it's time to update the road near City Hall.
