For the last couple of years, Dallas mayor Eric Johnson has floated around the idea of an NFL franchise operating from Dallas proper.  Though the Cowboys claim Dallas, their headquarters are in Frisco and their home stadium is in Arlington.

News from Kansas City caught the attention of Johnson, as Missouri votes rejected a tax increase that would provide funds to make improvements to the current home of the Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Because Kansas City citizens don't want to pay for a new stadium themselves and would rather the billionaire owner of the franchise foot the bill, said billionaire owner Clark Hunt said relocating the franchise out of Kansas City wasn't out of the question.

And since the Kansas City Chiefs started as the Dallas Texans way back in 1960, Johnson feels a reunion of sorts should occur!  He posted a cheeky response to the news of voters rejecting the Chief's proposed plan on X, stating "Welcome home, Dallas Texans!"

A couple of years ago, Johnson made his desire for an NFL franchise to set up shop in Dallas known, stating at the time per WFAA, "We need an AFC team that plays in southern Dallas."
