It was one of the scariest moments in NFL history when Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field shortly after the Bills' game against the Cincinnati Bengals began Monday evening.

First responders initiated CPR, defibrillation, and other treatments to Hamlin on the field for ten minutes before he was transferred to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

However, Hamlin appears to have responded well to treatment and thankfully, according to a tweet from the Bills doctors have reported that the 24-year-old has shown "remarkable improvement" and is "neurologically intact."

Hamlin's teammate Kaiir Elam also tweeted that Hamlin is "doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement."

According to Newser, the first question Hamlin asked when he woke up was "who won the game?"

The NFL has reportedly decided to cancel the remainder of the game.

According to ESPN, the NFL cited three factors for not continuing the game: The outcome would have no bearing on which teams qualified for the postseason; playing the game would have altered the playoff schedule for the remaining teams; and not playing the game would allow all clubs to know the postseason possibilities before the start of Week 18.
