Area hotels have been booked solid as of late due to the many thousands of people displaced from their homes due to the weather.

As many have found, it's nearly impossible to book a room not only due to the lack of space, but because some of the prices on third party websites are exorbitant!

Because Governor Abbott issued a disaster declaration, businesses are not allowed to "sell necessities like fuel, groceries, medicine and hotel rooms for an excessive price."

So with the prices on these third party websites, questions have been asked. However, according to NBC, an investigation by the attorney general's office have found no evidence of price gouging, and a glitch in these sites' booking systems may have altered the prices of their rooms.

However, if you do believe a business has raised prices to take advantage of the disaster, you can file a complaint here.
