A Michigan school district has had to defend themselves from a swarm of angry parents after accusations have come out that schools have placed kitty litter boxes in their bathrooms to appease students who identify as "furries."

This is an actual news story in 2021.

A concerned mother named Lisa Hansen brought the issue to light in a school board meeting last month saying that while she "wasn't sure," she heard that litter boxes were placed in a unisex bathroom at least one school "for the kids that identify as cats," and repeatedly said that the litter boxes were "part of an agenda being pushed."

In a statement obtained by Fox 2 in Detroit, Midland Public Schools said, "There is no truth whatsoever to this false statement/accusation! There have never been litter boxes within MPS schools. It is such a source of disappointment that I felt the necessity to communicate this message to you."

In the future, the district asks parents who "hear wild accusations" to message the superintendent.
