A Sacramento plastic surgeon is under fire after appearing in virtual traffic court while performing surgery.
Dr. Scott Green can be seen on video in the middle of an operating room wearing surgical scrubs while beeps of medical machinery can be heard in the background.
Per CBS San Francisco, a courtroom clerk can be heard asking, "Hello, Mr. Green? Hi. Are you available for trial? It kind of looks like you’re in an operating room right now?" Green responded, "I am, sir. Yes, I’m in an operating room right now. Yes, I’m available for trial. Go right ahead."
Though the clerk reminded Green that all courtroom proceedings were made available to the public, and anyone could witness the procedure he was performing, Green continued to attend to his patient on the operating table.
The judge said during the call he didn't think it appropriate to conduct trial under the circumstances, and told Green he’ll set a new date for trial when Green "was not actively involved or participating and attending to the needs of a patient.”
The Medical Board of California said it is now looking into the incident, saying it “expects physicians to follow the standard of care when treating their patients.”
