Isn't June supposed to be the coolest of Texas' summer months?
It certainly hasn't felt like that so far in 2023, and this week we're in store for some of the hottest temps we've experienced this year.
ERCOT has issued new warnings warning Texas residents of the absolutely scorching temperatures we're set to experience this week, and the very high pressure they are going to demand of our electric grids.
University of Houston Energy Fellow Ed Hirs told NBC DFW, "ERCOT is trying to be more transparent. I think what ERCOT is explaining is it's going to be hot and the grid is going to be stressed."
ERCOT said there is a possibility that Texas reaches an "all-time peak demand" record this week, but reassures that there is enough capacity to meet said demand.
Still, ERCOT says they will monitor conditions closely and will "deploy all available tools to manage the grid."
