Augusta National has spent upwards of $200 million to buy out homes and properties surrounding the golf course, which has effectively doubled the size of the club and make those homeowners instant millionaires.
However, there is one house that just refuses to sell.
The Thacker family lives at 1112 Stanley Dr., a property adjacent to Gate 6-A, and no matter how much money Augusta National throws their way, they won't give up their home.
The house is about 1,900 square feet, has three bedrooms, and sits on about two-thirds of an acre. It has an estimated value of $330,000, according to Zillow, though Augusta National has offered them MILLIONS for it.
Elizabeth Thacker told Business Insider, "We really don't want to go." Her husband Herman added, "Money ain't everything."
Their refusal to sell doesn't stop club officials from visiting the Thackers from time to time with a new offer.
"He'll come by here every so often, and he'll say: 'Just want to let you know we're still interested in your property,'" Herman said. "And we'll tell him the same thing again."
