"Fat Bear Week" is an annual event where fans get to vote on their favorite, fat bear as the animals prepare for hibernation.

However, this year's event has been rocked by a scandal that is quickly becoming one of America's favorite pastimes: voter fraud.

Amber Kraft of the National Parks Service told Rolling Stone it was "immediately clear" that there were some fake email addresses involved.

She said, "747 was leading in votes for the whole day and by quite a substantial amount.  When there were just a few hours of voting left we noticed that 435 Holly received over 9,000 votes in a very short period of time."

The Katamai National Park revealed the news this past Sunday, posting on Twitter:

"It appears someone has decided to spam the Fat Bear Week poll, but fortunately, it is easy for us to tell which votes are fraudulent. We have discarded the fake votes."

The fraudulent votes were immediately disregarded, and order was restored to bear democracy.

Bear 747 is currently leading the vote!
