For years, The Libertine on Greenville Avenue has hosted a 4th of July corn dog competition. Think Coney Island's hot dog eating contest but more Texan. This year is no different.
The Brass Knuckle Corn Dog Beatdown will challenge contestants to wolf down as many deep-fried wieners as possible in 15 minutes. First and second place win gift certificates. Third place gets a cash prize of $25... in quarters. Ties will be settled in a tequila shootout.
The event starts at 7pm on Monday the 4th. Registration is free, and they ask that people sign up by 6pm the day of the contest. I might go watch, but I'm definitely wearing a poncho.
