There are few things better than receiving a bonus at work, so you can imagine how excited the employees were at a Honda factory in Marysville, Ohio when they opened their paychecks and saw a few extra dollars in there.
And you can also imagine the heartbreak when the factory asked for that money back.
Apparently, the factory overpaid some of the bonuses, and it's now asking the employees to hand that excess cash back over.
According to NBC4, some employees were demanded to return hundreds of dollars, and there is really nothing the employees can do to stop them.
The Fair Labor Standards Act allows employers to recoup overpayments.
A Honda spokesperson told NBC4 that "issues related to compensation are a sensitive matter, and we are working quickly on this item to minimize any potential impact to our associates.
"Since this is a personnel issue, we have no further information to provide related to this matter."
Honda gave its employees several option on repaying the bonuses: Paying a lump sum upfront, having the amount deducted from future payroll, or removing it from future bonuses.
