An unethical person might offer this advice: If you're going to do something illegal, don't post it onto the internet.
Well thankfully this 19-year-old was dumb enough to do just that.
The teen filmed himself "pranking" strangers at Wortham Park in Cypress. The pranks involve ambushing unsuspected citizens and assaulting them, one time sucker punching two men in separate incidents and another tackling a man at the waist.
After the videos were posted to social media, a concerned citizen informed called the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office to report the attacks. Soon after, a victim of the assault came forward.
The teen seen in the videos recently spoke to ABC 13, and explained that it was all just a "prank."
He said in a text message, "It was a prank. I had no problem with the man. I wasn't trying to hurt him. I was hanging out with my friend, and we did a TikTok (video), and so, yeah, I didn't mean it, didn't mean to harm anybody."
KHOU 11 then caught up with the teen, where he tried to further explain his actions:
ABC 13 spoke with neighbors of the teen, who show little sympathy towards his actions and potential punishment.
"We hope he gets the help he needs. Also, spends time in jail for something very dangerous. It could have been much worse than it was," said Michael Patrick, who often walks his dogs in Wortham Park.
"He's 19. He's of age. He knows right from wrong. That's assault," added Frankie Jimenez.
