A picture of these magnificent creatures was posted to Twitter by user @AlexJoestar622, who captioned the image, “Remember when I told y’all about the Philippines having human-sized bats? Yeah, this was what I was talking about.”

Some people doubted the actual size of the bat and theorized that the angles in the image made it appear larger than it was.

According to the New York Post, this bat was a golden-crowned flying fox, also known as a fox bat, whose bodies can be as long as 16 inches with a wingspan that can reach five feet!

Another Twitter user from the Philippines confirmed he encounters these bats routinely and thankfully for humans, only really eat fruits.  “They’re really gentle too,” the Twitter user added.
