We all like to think of "what could have been," right? We always evaluate the missed opportunities in life and imagine how different our lives would be.
Rachel McAdams might be going through those feelings right now, because over a two-year stretch, she turned down roles in some of the biggest movies of the Aughts.
In a new interview with Bustle, McAdams revealed that over a two-year period, she turned down roles in The Devil Wears Prada, Iron Man, Mission Impossible: III, Casino Royale, and Get Smart.
These all proved to be absolute Hollywood blockbusters, so it would make sense if McAdams had some regrets. However, she feels quote the opposite.
She told the site, "There's certainly things like 'I wish I'd done that,' [but] I step back and go, 'That was the right person for that.'"
McAdams turned down those films due to taking a break from Hollywood between 2006 and 2008, and moving back to her native Canada.
She said, "I felt guilty for not capitalizing on the opportunity that I was being given, because I knew I was in such a lucky spot, but I also knew it wasn't quite jiving with my personality and what I needed to stay sane.
"There were definitely some anxious moments of wondering if I was just throwing it all away, and why was I doing that? It's taken years to understand what I intuitively was doing."
