The Italian town of Sorrento has a rule for tourists visiting from out of town: Cover up that swimsuit!
Mayor Massimo Coppola recently announced that his town has banned people from walking around shirtless or in just their swimsuits, and those who violate the new order could face potential fines of 25 to 500 euros, which is roughly the same amount in American dollars.
Coppola wrote on Facebook, "No more indecent behavior. Sorrento is increasingly recognized in the world as the capital of tourism and quality hospitality and these behaviors can constitute an element of discomfort and discomfort for both Sorrentines and tourists. In this way we want to protect and improve the livability of the city, the quality of life and the decor within the center and public spaces."
According to News.com.au, police will now be patrolling the area to make sure the new edict is being followed.
Sorrento sits along Italy's famous Amalfi Coast, and is known for its stunning cliffs and dramatic sea views, and endless road trip opportunities.
