Last Friday, actor Jonathan Majors was arrested for assault, strangulation, and harassment in regards to a domestic incident with a 30-year-old woman; police say the victim was taken to a New York hospital with "minor injuries to her head and neck."
However, Majors' lawyer Priya Chaudhry says that not only is her client "completely innocent," she claims the alleged victim has already recanted her statement.
Chaudhry told TMZ that Majors "is completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently."
Chaudhry says she's already gathered evidence to support these claims, including "video footage from within the vehicle where the alleged assault occurred, witness testimony from the driver and others who saw/heard the episode, and two written statements that Chaudry claims are from the alleged victim in this case."
Chaudry also insists that these statements show the alleged victim fully recanting her allegations, and she adds this will all be "presented to the authorities in due time to prove her client did nothing wrong."
In response to Chaudry's claims, the Manhattan D.A.'s Office told TMZ the case is ongoing, and they won't be commenting further on the details.
