Apparently, Lady Gaga was nervous before performing in front of the nation during last month's inauguration of Joe Biden.
She found some reassurance though in the form of the marine who escorted her down to the stage. Marine Capt. Evan Campbell told Task & Purpose, "It just seemed like a very natural human thing to do to look over and go, 'Hey you're going to do great. You always do well, you know, you're a performer, you're going to do great.' It just seemed like she needed to hear a relaxed voice."
A photographer captured the touching moment of prayer backstage, just before the pair walked down for Gaga's rendition of the national anthem.
I just love this photo from WaPo!@ladygaga prayers with Marine Campbell before singing our National Anthem at this year's inauguration. It is still ringing in my ears even now and made me proud to be an American. Something I hadn't felt in a very long time. pic.twitter.com/aawuwFY8Wx

Capt. Campbell went on to say, "She genuinely wanted to do well that day, she wanted to sing the national anthem for all Americans. It was very touching." He also added that Gaga was "incredibly genuine," and told him it would be "the most important day of her life, singing the national anthem."
