Ice cold beer is a staple of most convenience stores around the country, though a couple of lawmakers in Tennessee want to change that.

Sen. Paul Rose (R — District 32) and Rep. Ron Gant (R — District 94) have introduced a bill that would prohibit the sale of refrigerated or cold beer "at retail" in their state.

According to WKRN, the goal of this bill is to curb drunk driving and reduce deadly crashes involving alcohol.

The language of the bill is pretty vague, but many assume that "at retail" means that this law would not apply to bars, restaurants, or venues that serve cold beer.

The lawmakers want to address those concerns as well and want to place a cap on the number of drinks a place will serve when a person can't prove that they have a designated driver.
