A man in China bought three jars of "snake wine" for his chronically ill son. Many believe snake wine to hold several medicinal capabilities.

The man let the wine ferment untouched for three years in order to build their "medicinal purposes: and when he finally popped them open, all three snakes "came back to life," and one bit him!

Luckily, he was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and will survive.

And as for how did the snakes survive? Some experts say that snakes can enter a sort of "hibernation" while submerged in liquid, and can remain in that state for a couple of years. And if enough air seeps in through the lid of the jar can only extend that period.

However, herpetologist Wolfgang Wüster says that being able to survive that long is "biologically impossible.

He told Newsweek, "No snake can survive submerged in any kind of liquid in a bottle for more than an hour or so as a maximum.  Snakes have no magical powers, they are made of flesh and bone like any other animal, and require food, water and oxygen to survive."
