39-year-old John Hinkle Jr. says his dad introduced him to bowling when he was just a young boy.
The sport held a special bond between the two, so it only made sense for Hinkle to place his father's ashes inside a bowling ball upon his death in 2016. For years, the ball sat on the shelf as a tribute to John Hinkle Sr., until John Jr. decided to take it out for a game.
The very FIRST game Jr. used the ball, he bowled a perfect 300!
Hinkle told WMBD, "I had tears in my eyes in the 11th and 12th frames. I couldn't tell you where that last ball went, I had so many tears just throwing it."
Despite his father never bowling a 300 himself, Hinkle knew he was there with him that night.
He said, "It's special. Dad shot 298, 299, never had a 300. I had goosebumps, chills. He was there. This is the best (300 game), and definitely the hardest. I was shaking."
