A recent hospital stay, that included a two-night hospital stay, an X-ray and a course of antibiotics, left a man named Will Osman with a $69,000 bill.
Luckily, insurance covered most of Osman's bill and he was left with a payment of $2,500, and that was when the engineer became inspired: Could he himself build an X-ray machine for less than the $2,500 left on his hospital bill?
And with a $400 power supply, $155 X-ray vacuum tube, some Geiger counters, and a roll of sheet metal, Osman built himself a functioning X-ray machine!
Though per Unilad, Osman does admit, "This is the most dangerous contraption I have ever built."
