It was a weird time in May, 2020. We were a couple of months into the pandemic, with seemingly no end in sight.
None of us were quite thinking right, which leads us to 71-year-old Jesse McFadden.
At the time, the Michigan man hatched a plan to A) steal a helicopter from the Coast Guard, B) go to a local hospital, C) free all the COVID-19 patients, D) "quarantine" the doctors and nurses, and E) shoot up the place.
It's unclear why McFadden wanted to free the patients, though he did also plan to steal a couple of the hospital's ambulances.
Unfortunately, McFadden didn't get very far into even the first step, and after failing to steal a helicopter because he couldn't enter the Coast Guard facilities, was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers.
According to MLive, McFadden was initially facing a lot of charges including multiple felonies though he accepted a plea deal, and had everything dropped save for one count of possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
He'll be sentenced in May.
