Mark Cuban has led a wildly successful career in multiple platforms, and he owes it all thanks to advice his father gave him a long time ago.
In a 2012 interview with Charlie Rose, Cuban was asked about the most impressive person he ever knew, and he told Rose his father, for a "lot of different reasons."
Cuban remembers one specific quote his father, that he issued all the time. Cuban told Rose, "His best line to me always is, 'Today is the youngest you'll ever be, live like it.' So that's kind of like my motto."
Cuban's father Norton, who installed upholstery in cars, didn't stop working even after Cuban's success in tech. In fact, it wasn't until he bought the Mavericks that he was able to convince his father to stop working.
Per NBC DFW, Cuban said, "I couldn't get him to retire." Buying the Mavs, though, "was the impetus for him to retire and come down to Dallas and live and hang out and go to Mavs games. It was really special."
