One typically would not join OnlyFans with the idea of observing fine art thousands of years old, but that's exactly what's currently happening in Vienna, Austria.
Because their nude paintings and TikToks keep getting them banned from TikTok, a group of museums in Vienna have started an OnlyFans page for their more "explicit" pieces of art in what they're calling their "Vienna Laid Bare Campaign."
Back in 2018, Facebook was mocked in Europe for censoring 400-year-old nude paintings from the Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. A group of museums felt those effects in full force after the social media platform TikTok banned their accounts for showcasing their artwork that featured nudity.
A spokesperson for the museums told Vice "Vienna and its art institutions are among the casualties of this new wave of prudishness . . . with nude statues and famous artworks blacklisted."
So, they took the only logical step and created an OnlyFans account to showcase their artwork. The spokesperson continued "We've had 3,000-year-old works of art be censored [on social media] . . . clearly there is something wrong here . . . that's why we decided to put the capital's world-famous 'explicit' artworks on OnlyFans."
For a small subscription fee of $3 a month, you can view famous pieces of art from Egon Schiele, an Austrian Expressionist painter, and Koloman Moser, a twentieth-century graphic artist. And along with the subscription, you will receive a complimentary Vienna City Card, or a ticket for one of the museums featured on the account.
