Word to the wise: If you want to test the true validity of your relationship, take a vacation together.
A new survey from Dating.com has found that nearly 50% of all couples break up after taking their first trip together.
  Alex Kudos, Chief Marketing Officer of the Dating Group, said of their findings: "Our most recent survey has revealed the top reasons why couples trips can strain relationships, many of which some people might not consider before taking their first trip with their partners. The below findings offer insight to what you may unexpectedly experience while traveling with your partner for the first time, as well as some tips and tricks to avoid turmoil in paradise as a result."
The most common causes of a breakup after couples take a trip together include:
-Weird habits
-Strange obsessions
-Punctuality
-Sharing a bathroom
-Seeing your partner’s true colors
-Incompatibility
Maria Sullivan, Vice President and Dating Expert of Dating.com, says, “A couple's first trip together is a major relationship milestone, whether it happens in your first six months of dating or on your honeymoon. Spending several hours with someone isn't the same as spending several days with them, and even spending weekends together isn't the same as spending several weeks together."
Her tips to passing “the first trip test” include:
- Don't plan activities without your significant other
- Make sure that the vacation is within both of your budgets
- Book in your own name
