A man in San Francisco was nervous about trying to make friends, so he went to the old adage of "the way to a person's heart is through their stomach."

Curtis Kimball, owner of The Crème Brûlée Cart, starting putting up flyers around his neighborhood that read "My wife says I'm getting weird. She says I need to make friends. So I'm making pancakes."

He had zero expectations going into pancake day, but the neighborhood showed up in force!

Over 75 people showed up to the event, where Kimball served over 125 pancakes! He told the Today Show that he had "no idea" if anybody would even show up.

He said, "I actually didn't know what to expect at all and I was terrified setting up for it. Even putting up the flyers made me nervous and self-conscious, like, this could be a really dumb idea and everyone might hate it. But the first people showed up right away, they lived two doors down and they were very excited."

It was such a hit, Kimball hopes to replicate the pancake breakfast in other neighborhoods across San Francisco, with his ultimate dream to have Saturday morning pancake parties across the country.
