Massachusetts Attorney General and Governor-elect Maura Healey recently signed a bylaw declaring that each and every beach in Nantucket will allow anyone, regardless of gender, to go topless.
The people behind bylaw said the goal was to "promote equality."
The bylaw was spearheaded by Nantucket resident and sex educator Dorothy Stover, who during the May debate over the law discussed everything from "the history of swimsuits to the stimulation of male nipples" according to the Nantucket Current.
At the time, Stover said, "I hope you vote for equality today.
"Being topless is not being nude. It would not make them be nude, it would allow tops to be optional for anyone who wants to go topless."
